nikki February 16, 2010 Nicole C. Clark (Houma, LA) thank you for the prompt delivery. i gave this oven to my 5 year old as a birthday gift and she loves it. she is always wanting to bake something.
it is a great way for kids to learn how to bake.
Stinky, Nasty Disaster - YUCK February 10, 2010 Bearhouse Momma (Maryland) This is NOT the Easy Bake Oven you remember from your childhood. It seems to have almost all plastic housing, so when it heats up, it puts off a terrible smell. We had to open the windows while it was preheating. I don't think these fumes are healthy for anyone, much less kids.
My daughter (age 5) wanted to make sugar cookies. She has a real sweet tooth and I thought she would love them, but when she opened the package and smelled the mix, she made gagging noises. We baked them anyway, but when I gave her a cookie to eat, she said the smell made her want to throw up, and she didn't want to eat it. The thought of my daughter turning down a cookie is... astounding!
The mix just says artificial and natural flavoring as ingredients. I suspect my daughter is used to real food and home-made cookies, and is too wise to eat the artificial goop that this company is passing off as food.
I would like my money back so I could buy a really good kids' cookbook. THAT would be a more sensible purchase. Blech.
Not easy enough February 10, 2010 E. Guy 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter got this toy about 6 weeks ago. She has played with it a few times, but has found that it not nearly as fun as she thought it would be. The mixes make pastes that are hard to work with. While helping her press the cake "batter" into the teeny little pan, I was thinking it would probably be a lot easier to just let her help me bake a real cake. She has more fun when I involve her in my real cooking anyway. I think this toy is way overrated.
